If I Only Knew: Called to Deeper Waters (Alfredo Canencia)

Pastor Alfredo Canencia opens the message by resonating with the feeling of working hard without seeing results, paralleling this with the experience of Peter and his fellow fishermen. He discusses Luke 5:1-11, where Jesus notices their struggle and enters Simon Peter's boat, signifying that Jesus sees us in our challenges. He emphasizes that often our next blessing is found at the edge of frustration, encouraging listeners to recognize their struggles and invite Jesus into those areas of their lives.

The pastor highlights the difference between sympathy and empathy, urging that true understanding comes from entering into another’s struggles. When Jesus enters our lives, he brings grace—defined as unmerited favor—which is essential for transformation. Pastor Canencia discusses how God uses our weaknesses as opportunities for his grace to shine through, ultimately inviting transformation and spiritual growth within us.

A pivotal theme discussed is the relationship between faith and obedience. Pastor Canencia illustrates that genuine faith must be paired with action, as seen in the story of Peter letting down his nets despite prior failures. This obedience leads not only to miraculous provisions but also to blessings that overflow into the lives of others. The call to go deeper into faith emphasizes stepping out of comfort zones, where true encounters with God often happen.

The message culminates in the idea that a fresh encounter with Jesus allows believers to understand their purpose. By pursuing God and diving deeper into faith, individuals can unlock their potential to make a divine impact in the world. Canencia encourages listeners to be sensitive to God’s calling, to step into their divine purpose, and to accept the power and vision he offers through a relationship with Christ.
