Just how much of your service should a trial user be allowed to "try"? When it costs you real money to supply your product, when and how do you apply limits so that people have to upgrade?
That's my challenge this week, and I'll share a concrete example from my journey with Podscan.

Arvid discusses the complexities of providing valuable features to trial users while managing costs effectively. He highlights the necessity of allowing trial users to experience the full potential of PodScan without incurring unsustainable financial burdens.
The conversation delves into the value of AI-driven features for potential customers. Arvid emphasizes the need for context-aware filtering as a key differentiator in demonstrating the real value of PodScan, illustrating how it allows users to track specific terms without irrelevant data.
A critical theme is the intersection of technical, business, and financial decisions in managing resources. Arvid explains the need for a balance between showcasing product capabilities to trial users while ensuring that paid users subsidize their own experience and not the trial users.
Arvid proposes a system where trial users can initially access more features, with an automatic throttle kicking in after a certain value has been demonstrated. This aims to quickly showcase value while still encouraging trial users to convert to paid plans.
